First LFSCon Held Memorial Day Weekend

The first LFScon drew 70 attendees, including guests of honor, LFS members, and their personal guests (see list below). LFSCon took place in conjunction with Marcon 36 in Columbus, Ohio over Memorial Day weekend. Marcon's total attendance was more than 3,000; many non-LFS members attended various LFS panels, making them among the most popular in Marcon history.

Seven members of the LFS Board of Directors and a substantial number of other members took part in the first annual business meeting of the Libertarian Futurist Society (see pp. 8-9 for minutes).

This year's Hall of Fame award and a special Lifetime Achievement Award were presented at the Saturday night masquerade before an audience of over 1,000. The ceremony commemorated past Prometheus Awards with the appearance on stage of Karen Anderson, James P. Hogan, Brad Linaweaver, Victor Milan, J. Neil Schulman, L. Neil Smith, Vernor Vinge, and F. Paul Wilson (see photo, p. 1).
