LFS members will find particular interest in his comments on von Mises' economic calculation argument. The issue also contains substantial articles on Tim Powers and China Miéville.

Of interest in connection with the lead story in this issue of Prometheus is Joseph T. Major's review of Shippey's J. R. R. Tolkien: Author of the Century (p. 29).

Other News:

Locus (October 2001) reports that allegations of repressive measures taken by the government of Kazakhstan against "Tolkienists" have been questioned. A number of Tolkien fans in Kazakhstan say they have encountered no police harassment.
