Gauntlet Press (wwm.gauntletpress.com) is now taking orders for a signed limited edition of The Haunted Air. This installment of the popular series finds Jack investigating a haunted house. Readers will learn more abut the Otherness that Jack has tween combating throughout the series. The Gauntlet edition has cover art by Harry 0. Morris (approved by the author). The numbered edition isf $50; the traycased lettered edition (with two additional Harry Morris interiors) is $150. It portrays an alternative history where the Nazis won the Second World War, helped by dark, occcult rituals based on Nordic neopaganism. According to an online news report (http:// filmforce.ign.com/lotr/, posted January l6), the DVD re1ease of "The Fellowship of the Ring" will be a "director's cut" version over four hours long. Material that was omitted from the theatrical release (reviewed in the Winter 2001 Prometheus, included scenes in Lothlorien, a conversation between Gimli and Galadriel among them. Which scenes will be restored has not been announced.
A survey of readers of the popular libertarian e-newsletter "Miss Liberty's Film and TV Update" chose "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" as best libertarian film of 2001 by a landslide. Other nominees included "Censor," "The Majestic," and "Uprising." The award for best libertarian documentary of 2001 went to "John Stossel Goes to Washington" for its clear and comprehensive documentation of government waste and inefficiency. Another nominee "Tampering with Nature," was also made by Stossel; the third strong contender was "The F.L.I.R. Project." Science fiction novelist
has been chosen as the keynote speaker at the Libertarian Party convention for this year. 's address, scheduled for July 5. will discuss "treating votes with the respect they deserve" and will address some of the same themes as 's Prometheus column "confessions of a Cheerful Libertarian" (summer 2000).
