As newly elected Board President, I'd like to thank Michael Grossberg for all the work he's done to get the LFS on a solid footing. He is the most recent of a series of people who shouldered the burden of keeping the organization going. We owe Michael a debt of gratitude for spending an enormous amount of effort. In addition to the regular tasks required to keep the awards process going and ensure that we continued to have members paying dues, Michael gathered a group of the most active members to advise him in the process of putting together a set of bylaws to formalize the organization and get 501(c)3 status.
The LFS now has a much larger core of responsible people taking care of the day-to-day business, so no one person has to monitor everything required to keep us healthy. Since I'm the one trying to fill the shoes Michael used to wear. I'm doubly grateful to have so many people helping. Best of all, I'm glad to see that Michael didn't burn himself out in achieving alI of this over the last few years. Michael continues to contribute: currently he's working closely with David Tuchman on the Membership Services committee on a project to improve the materials we send out to new and continuing members each year. I expect that some of you have already seen the first results of this project. So, once again, l'd like to express my appreciation, which I'm sure is shared, for Michael Grossberg's past and continuing contributions to the LFS.
