The Hacker

This is an unusual and fairly effective science fiction / horror set in a world of secret government projects and misfit computer hackers. An elite group of hackers, The Surgurey plays hardball with each other on BBS war boards, but now they’re playing a deadlier game with the Succubus a brilliant homicidal maniac who is developing a deadly weapon for the government. He doesn’t play fair: he cheats, he kills. This is awkwardly construcdted at times, but some of the format is fascinating. A lot of the early character development is through e-mail and board postings. There seems to be a real sense of understanding for those who live their lives on the nets. Worth a look, but flawed by the plot problems and an abrupt and unsatisfactory ending.
