First things first: Matthew O’Keeffe was the mysterious author of the piece on 2000 A.D. comic books in the last issue. Somehow his name was not on the manuscript. Victoria Varga indeed told me she knew the originator of the piece, but unfortunately I did not know whence it came. Very sorry, Matthew.
I will be visiting Matthew in London when I stop over there after the WorldCon in the Netherlands. There seems to be quite a growing European Libertarian movement. I will tell you more about this in the next issue.
Speaking of the next issue, it will be edited by Len Jackson. We will then alternate issues, as we originally desired. If you are confused as to where to send your material, it will always be welcome at the Penfield, New York address. Tory will send it on to Len or me as necessary.
Elsewhere in this issue you will notice two new features. Propaganda is the name of a column which lists up-coming libertarian SF activities, such as publications, convention attendances, etc. If you have other items that you would like to see here, please do send them in. The second feature is The Same Ol’ Shit (or S.O.S. for the less profane). The purpose of this column is to call attention to particularly anti-freedom items that are published in the mainstream (e.g. non-libertarian) press.
We have reviews of Solomon’s Knife, The Boat of a Million Years (two reviews!), and Return to the Forbidden Planet. initiates a series of articles about libertarianism in horror fiction. I analyse the restored version of Red Planet.
The front cover is by Jerry Collins. The Prometheus logo cartoon is by Rachel Dickenson.
